Art Contest Submission Guidelines
Presented in partnership with Dripping Springs Art League
Overview
Artists are invited to reimagine a literary classic or favorite book by creating an original, handmade book cover.
This contest celebrates creativity, storytelling, and the connection between literature and visual art.
Who Can Enter
Two age groups:
- Grades 3 to 8
- High School to Adults
Submission Requirements
- Artwork must be handmade
- Size must be 8.5 x 11 inches
- Choose a literary classic or your favorite book
- Reimagine the cover of the selected book
- Include a written response of one paragraph to one half page explaining the artwork and its connection to the book
- Write the artist’s name, phone number, and email on the back of the artwork
- Submit artwork in person at the library
Submission deadline: April 1
Judging and Awards
Two winners will be selected in each age group:
- Judges’ Choice selected by members of the Dripping Springs Art League and the Dripping Springs Community Library
- People’s Choice selected through a public vote on social media
Each winner will receive a professionally printed copy of their artwork to keep.
Exhibition and Recognition
All submitted artwork will be displayed in May at Primal Art Gallery. All artists will be invited to a community art reception.
Winning artwork will also be featured on the Library’s new Bookmobile and unveiled at Founders Day.
Artwork Use
Winning artwork may be reproduced by the Dripping Springs Art League for fundraising purposes benefiting library art programs. Artists will always be credited.
