 1,000 BOOKS Before Kindergarten

Did you know that reading to your child is one of the most powerful ways to boost his or her brain power? The simple and enjoyable act of sharing books helps your child learn pre-reading skills such as understanding the sounds letters make, developing a richer vocabulary, and building background knowledge - all important skills that help prepare your child for learning to read and entering kindergarten.

On February 15, 2016, the Dripping Springs Community Library's 1,000 Books begins!  The program is a fun, exciting, and free way to start your child on the path to success!  Any child ages birth to five years can participate. Families who sign up for the program will receive a reading log to help them track the books they share with their children and will be awarded prizes of books, stickers, bags and toys as they reach certain reading goals.

"The Magic of 3..." at the 4th Friday Story Time

“The Magic of 3” – folktales that feature a wonderful combination of three main characters, three magic wishes, etc. are coming to the 4th Friday Discovery Times! Mrs. Linda (Woodward) shares the magic of folktales and drama beginning in August with the Three Billy Goats Gruff.  Each fourth Friday will always include a traditional folktale that features “The Magic of 3” and preschoolers will be encouraged to “put on their imagination hats” while  listening and then actually participate in a dramatic version of the day’s featured story.

Mrs. Judy and therapy dog, Slick Willy, will begin each 4th Friday story time with a special dog book along with songs and finger plays.
Don’t miss any of these special 4th Fridays, 10:30-11:30am.
Check our online calendar for future story titles.
