2011 End of Year Activities
“And the Winner Is…”

Bobbie Hentschel, the “Dining Out in Dripping “ raffle chair for the Friends of the Library announced that the winning ticket belonged to Becky Thomas. Twenty four local restaurants donated meals for two for this raffle. The value of the combined meals was over $500.00 and ticket sales raised $750 for the library. Becky won gift certificates to all 24 restaurants.
Becky is a big supporter of the library. She, her husband and two boys are big readers. She loves looking at her library account on line where it tells her how much they save by borrowing books from the library instead of buying them. With their busy lifestyle, the restaurant certificates will be very welcome for quick meal stops with the kids and for leisurely date nights with her husband.
Margaret Wimmer, the Christmas in the Hills Tour of Homes chair, reported “The Tour of Homes was wonderful as always. There are so many people for whom the tour is an annual tradition. For some it’s a fun Ladies Day Out, and for others it’s a couples get-together. It’s not just seeing the interesting homes but also getting to visit with the charming hosts. No matter if it’s a group or solo excursion, it gets you in the Christmas spirit of Good will Toward Men.”
John Hoag, chair of the first International Wine Tasting Event, said, “The first year of any new event is a little uncertain, but with our generous sponsors and a great home in which to hold the wine tasting, we were very pleased with the results. It was a festive party, and everyone enjoyed learning about and tasting some great wines from many different regions. We are already looking forward to the next one.’’
Friends of the Library president, Donna Woody thanks everyone involved. “We are so fortunate to have such generous sponsors in our community. The restaurants, the businesses and private individuals underwrote all of these activities which resulted in the Friends of the Library donating over $6000 to the Dripping Springs Community Library this year. Please make every effort to shop locally and thank our sponsors for supporting your library.”
